It's Bedtime

Puttting Ryan to bed tonight started out as a nightmare. He has had trouble sleeping latley, and usually ends up in our bed early in the morning. He screams and kicks and throws quite the fuss. We struggle and fight each other at bed time, and I lost it tonight. Exhausted and frustrated I sat in his rocker and within minutes he calmed down and fell asleep. I found myself feeling guilty for losing my temper, especially because he was so content just having his mommy quietly sit in his room.

I learned a lesson- I had things to do, and all I was thinking about was the toys on the floor in the front room that needed to be picked up, the kitchen floor that needed sweeping, and the laundry that needed folding. I learned that sometimes those things can wait, because one little boy just needed his mom to sit in his room for a few minutes. It was peaceful, I smiled as he peeked over his bumper a few times just to make sure I was still there. And 15 minutes later when I creeped out the door, I realised that it really wasnt so bad after all.

Soooo, did he make it ALL night? I'm sorry this is so hard right now. It won't be like this forever.

I feel for you right now. I have had a hard time letting it all go and just playing or rocking or holding Jack. Is it going to get any easier?!?!

We all have those days and those moments--I know they always make you feel bad, but they also help put life in perspective and I think that we all need that every once in a while!

Treece,

He slept untill 4:30 am. Then I went in and rocked him back to sleep, (I did not bring him into our bed)he woke up again at 7:30. Not too bad!

Not bad Em, that's actually pretty good. He'll stop waking up so early, when he figures out he's not getting into your bed. Keep it up!
