Rainy June

It rained and rained in June... Ryan and I were so anxious for warm weather. Every day we would spend time sitting on the porch watching the rain, we would cuddle up in a vintage green blanket, and even though we were cold we couldn't bare to come inside.

One day the rain stopped and we drove over to the Children's Gardens at Thanksgiving Point. They had large bright umbrellas in case of rain, we grabbed one and off we went to explore. It wasn't long before a huge storm blew in. I decided we should find shelter and saw a tent up ahead. It looked sturdy enough and so Ryan and I went and sat under it and the rain pounded above us... It was our adventure,we were cozy and dry... I let Ryan jump around and play with the umbrella.. HE WAS SO HAPPY. I started singing... the song from the sound of music..."Raindrops on Roses"{ We were the only people left in the gardens,and it seemed to fit the mood} He danced and played. It was a beautiful Mother and Son moment. Once the rain stopped we left,I think the gardens are prettier in the rain anyways...

{picture from here}
Peanut Butter Choc Chippers

1 ¼ cup flour
¾ tsp baking soda
¼ salt
½ tsp baking powder
½ cup butter, softened
1 cup peanut butter
¾ cup sugar
½ cup light brown sugar
1 large egg
1 Tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips {you can substitute for 1/2 cup peanut butter chips and 1/2 cup choc chips}

Sugar in a bowl for dipping

Preheat oven 350 degrees In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and baking powder, and salt. Set aside. In a large bowl, beat the butter and the peanut butter together until fluffy. Add the sugars and beat until smooth. Add the egg and mix well. Add the milk and the vanilla. Add the flour mixture and beat thoroughly. Stir in the chocolate chips. Drop Tbsp size rounded cookie dough into bowl of sugar to coat. Place on un greased cookie sheet leaving several inches between for expansion. Lightly Flatten cookies with back of spatula, or you can use a fork and make peanut butter marks it's your choice. Bake for 10-12 minutes. The cookies will look underdone. Cool for 1 minute on pan then remove to a rack to cool completely. Delish!
