Christmas Day was Perfect, Ryan was Pretty excited to see if Santa Came! He bounded down the stairs and fist off he saw his new bike with a big bow on it. He kept saying my Bike! My Bike!, {parents love this kind of reaction} So we took him for a quick ride!
We continued opening presents when Ryan was done with one present he said, "Let's try this one" referring to another present! We wrapped all of his in Santa paper so he knew which ones were just for him!
Then we opened our Gifts to each other, Jamie bought me My Camera!!! { I am now a proud owner if a Nikon. }The rest of the morning, I was playing with my new toy! I bought Jamie a set of Golfers Rain Gear, and an indoor remote control mini helicopter,{that he absolutely loves and played with all day}
We finally decided to open our Ultrasound envelope, I was getting so excited, I let Jamie look at it first, I had my new camera ready! He looked at it silently and had a grin on his face, finally I told him to hand it over to me... As I read "It's a Girl", I started tearing up and kept exclaiming, things like oh my gosh... I thought for sure it was going to be a boy! You see there are 6 Great grandsons on my side of the family. And Jamie has been telling me every day that he knows its a boy! So it was a surprise for him as well!
We headed over to my Parents shortly after for brunch, Homemade Cinnamon rolls, and German Pancakes with Berries and Whipped Cream , My sister and her husband were also announcing the gender of their first baby also due in May. Cassi and I were both hoping to break the streak and have girls together. They announced that they were having a Girl first, and then we announced... The entire room got CRAZY! like a game show! {see picture below}
We had a clerk at the store wrap an appropriate color of shirt for us, {we let her peek in our envelope.} Then my family opened their present AND FOUND THIS!
The rest of the day we spent relaxing, and playing games. It was a great Christmas, and we have so much to be Thankful for. I am so excited to have my first girl, and have been scouring my huge baby name book.
We had our Ultra sound for the baby on Monday, we decided to keep it in an envelope and open it on Christmas. I am amazed at my willpower, I didn't know I had it in me. The envelope seemed to stare at me from the Tree, so I put it in a bag and put it behind the tree, problem solved. It will be the best present this year! {I know I will also be playing with my new camera, the one I know I'm getting because I have been talking about it for a year, and my husband is the type that catches on}I know that was a run on sentence..
We just returned home from a trip to Oregon, to attend my Cousin's Wedding. We had the best time, and had wonderful hosts! {Thanks Trav and Liz} We danced, and visited with family, and fell in love with the Green Trees! And Ashley was a beautiful Bride!
Christmas Eve is tonight, all the presents are bought and wrapped, so I will be enjoying my day, baking and watching the Polar express with Ryan... His new favorite show. Maybe we will play in the snow!
Merry Christmas! And the next post: Pictures with my new camera! Promise!
My computer screen and camera were broken... so I have been without a computer and a camera for a couple of months..I am glad I have them back.. Here is what we have been up to:
Ryan and I headed to Laguna Beach for Thanksgiving {sigh, I love that place}.. We missed having Jamie with us, but the Guy didn't want to miss his "Turkey Bowl" that he organised himself.. , and I guess he had to work too. So we enjoyed the warm weather, and beautiful beaches without him. Ryan and I went on long walk every morning and found lots of sea glass! He was a great partner. I shopped, and had the best Guacamole with my other Pregnant sister Cassi, over looking the ocean, I bought my first pair of rainbows..{flip flops, if you dont know}and we had Thanksgiving with the ocean waves in the background. It was Perfect! My cousin Josh was married the weekend after Thanksgiving in Los Angeles, {the real reason we were there}. It was such a fun and festive wedding, I danced till my feet hurt, pregnant belly and all, and the baby started moving like crazy, I guess it isn't used to that much excitement{ever} but get me in a Lebanese restaurant with live Middle Eastern Music,and the best kabobs.. and I can't help but shake my thing. Ryan slept through the entire reception on a bench in the back,{it was nice} the funny thing is it was so LOUD in that Restaurant, I couldn't believe how hard he slept. And when he woke up as we were leaving, my sister asked him if he liked the party, He got so excited and said YES A PARTY! And he really meant it, he had fun, I wonder what he was dreaming? So far this December has been COLD! But we love the snow, and Christmas Music, and Christmas Movies, I cant help but love everything about this time of Year! I am planning our Church Christmas Party, it will be this coming Saturday, I will post more later. I have more lists to make... Mom and Baby are doing good, I have been feeling the baby move and it is the most amazing feeling. I am so excited to meet him or her!
Ryan loves the snow, and I have tried to let him play outside every day, I need to get out of the house too, and the cool air feels so good to me! And look how happy he is!
So I am sure you may have noticed that I have been M.I.A.? Well I have been busy you see, sickly too, and tired... Oh and very nauseated. I hate the smell of my Refrigerator and have been known to leave the room when someone opens it. And my husband smells funny to me too! You guessed it, we are expecting Baby #2 sometime in May.
Our life has been turned upside down,I have been eating grape nuts and pellet ice,and I have resigned from cooking...ever again, {hopefully I will change my mind in a few weeks..}I have been barely functioning normally that is. But maybe that means its a girl? Because I did not go through this the first time.
Today is my silver lining, I feel pretty good and have started cleaning up the neglect from the past month. I have the blinds open, and there is snow, and somehow snow always puts a smile on my face. Even if it is October.
My computer is broken and it needs to go into the shop. So I am using my husbands computer that seems like it was made in 1990... But it works...
And I am so very excited, because babies are the best, don't you think, and I have really wanted one for quite sometime. But things like this happen when they are supposed to I suppose. And we couldn't be happier. I tell myself this every time I have to run to the bathroom, to well you know....
I have my first appointment next week, I should have a due date after!
My Neighbor and Friend Amelia will be having a baby boy early in October. We needed to celebrate properly, so we settled on a casual brunch with some neighbors and friends. It turned out quite lovely.
On the menu, Ham and Swiss Quiche with Chives, Sour Cream Coffee Cake with Cinnamon Crumble and Maple Glaze, Fresh Fruit, Juice and Water.
I went with the color yellow because it is so bright and happy and I heart yellow poms! The flowers were simple Poms and Berries in some vintage milk glass vases.
We had the perfect amount of guests and visited and opened gifts. I cant wait to meet the little one soon!
{i didnt get the best group shots but I couldn t leave the post without at least one of the baby bump}
He plays with mostly girls, it can be a love hate relationsip, but every day he askes to play with them, not the boys down the street{and there are only 2} OUR NEIGHBORHOOD IS CHALK FULL OF CUTE LITTLE GIRLS~
He is so sweet and will hold their hands and help them down
steps, I am trying to raise a gentleman after all...
He gives them rides in his car, and they line up on the streets. Because he is COOL RIDER!
Ryan was very excited for his first day of Preschool. I think he liked wearing his backpack most!
His cute friend Lily is in his class. He looks so big to me!
They were so excited when they got to the classroom and there was a play kitchen, I snuck out the door and he didn't even look up... I am glad he isn't shy...The other day when I left the class he opened the door and Yelled " Bye MOOOOM BYYYEEEE!" And he went back inside the class room and shut the door... I am so glad he likes it!And if I am really honest, I guess I like it too!
We had a fun night out with my Aunt Sisters and Cousins. Thanks for making sure we got pictures ASH! I love it! We need to see each other more often!{and kari thanks for planning this!} {Kari, Cassi, Sara, Emily, Brittany, Ashley}

I invite you to follow my journey, as I experience motherhood for the first time and find beauty in what the world has to offer.
With the New year I have decided to find more things beautiful, be inspired by great design, and experiment with more recipes,products,restaraunts and gadgets. Each week I will post a "Room that Inspires". I look forward to a New Year with all of you!
Its time for fall!
Fall is my favorite time of year. I would love to hear what your family does in the fall! I like to make soups and freeze them. There is nothing better than a good reason to stay inside with a great book, or dinner with friends, a good game and some comfort food. Its this time of year that I really miss Virginia. The pumpkin stands at every corner, crisp cold breezes, a little fog, lunch at Panera Bread,maybe someday we will find ourselves back there....
